Private Estate Ports now available

Some time ago, I was introduced to a contact whose passion was port wine. He had travelled to Portugal and set up a project to import port from two vineyards. They are Vista Alegre and Quevedo.

Vista Alegre

Fine White – 19% ABV 750ml £24.99- Traditional white Port Wine. The ageing period in oak vats provides a unique characteristic of smoothness, freshness and elegance. Serve chilled as an aperitif, or add a little tonic, lemon and ice.

White 10 year old in Presentation carton – 20% ABV 500ml £28.99 – A medium dry wine. Made exclusively from the traditional white Douro grapes and carefully aged in oak casks for 10 years.

Quevedo

Quevedo is part of a new generation of small family wineries based in the Douro. When Portugal joined the European Union in 1986, legislation changed to allow both grape growers and wineries in the Douro to export their wines directly to the retailer.

Grapes come from vineyards across six properties in the Douro valley, from the sub-regions of the Cima Corgo and the Douro Superior. The diversity of the vineyards provides grapes of varying aromas and flavors to help craft the wine.

Rose Port – 19.5% ABV 750ml £18.99 – A fresh Port that boasts berry fruit flavours, strawberry, blue berry & raspberry. With a refreshig and smooth tast. Best served chilled, it ‘s the ideal drink for an afternoon spent with friends.

LBV 2012 – 19.5% ABV 750ml £29.99 – Made with grapes from the main Quevedo vineyard, Quita Vale d’Agodinho. Ready to drink and can be laid down for several years.

Colheita 1996 – 19.5% ABV 750ml £44 – Aged in oak barrels and made with Quinta Vale d’Agodinho harvest.
